SMS partnered with Gear Up Achieve to provide a Career Fair for our 7th & 8th Grade students! It provided rich opportunities for networking, exploring opportunities, & engaging in conversations about their future! It was a beautiful day! Thank you to all who made it possible!

Several of our SMS Band students completed a rigorous audition on Saturday to compete for a spot in the Alabama All-State band. We are very proud of all our students that stepped out of their comfort zone & competed. This is a testament to their hard work, dedication, competitive spirit & love for music.
A special CONGRATULATIONS to Sidney Barrett for earning a spot in District Honor Band and All-State Alternate. She will go to our District Honor Band this month & then has the chance to participate in the All-State Honor Band in April in Mobile, AL.

During the 12 week “Too Good For Drugs” program, students learned about & discussed peer pressure, decision making, & goal setting. At the conclusion, Ms. Payne’s 6th grade students were able to participate in an awareness activity using “Fatal Vision” goggles. The goggles mimic the effects that drugs & alcohol can have both mentally & physically.
SMS Students in Computer Science class with Mrs. Davis have been working in a new program called QuantHub to enhance digital literacy & data fluency training. A QuantHub representative visited our school last week to share helpful tips on the platform to improve learning. We look forward to sharing their accomplishments soon!
