What a fantastic month we have had at Tallassee Elementary School during Summer Learning! There has been so much learning, fun, creativity, and growth for our students and staff throughout the entire program! Our ARI Reading Specialist, Mrs. Lindsey Pescia assisted in planning the program and providing resources and support to our teachers and students. We are grateful for all of her hard work in making this program a success!
Students were able to engage in book studies, phonics instruction, creative writing, math enrichment, PE, STEM, art, and social emotional learning through counseling sessions! A special thank you to Mrs. Cindy Rigsby for coming and allowing students to paint their own piece of pottery during art. Students have been able to improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and phonemic awareness through small group and whole group reading instruction each day. After their hard work was complete, students took an end of the program assessment to determine progress.
After all of their testing and hard work, our students deserved a celebration, so we've spent the last few days of Summer Learning celebrating their accomplishments! On Tuesday, students got snow cones from the Louie's Sno-Cones truck! On Wednesday, students enjoyed a trip to the Montgomery Zoo and an afternoon movie on the big screen! On Thursday, students had field day inside featuring inflatables from BounceTime rentals in the gym, hallway games, and more!
Finally, we would like to thank the tireless efforts of each faculty and staff member who worked Summer Learning this month. None of this would have been possible without their dedication and hard work throughout this learning process! As our appreciation lunch explained, thank you for giving our students a "pizza" your summer!
