The Tallassee High School cross country team raced in the 2019 AHSAA 5A state meet at Oakville Indian Mounds XC Course near Cullman last weekend. The team finished in 12th place overall at the state level. On an individual level, 10th grader Woodrow Dean completed the 5K course in time of 15:51.85 placing 2nd overall. The winner and 5A state champion was Cooper Atkins of Scottsboro who ran 15:50.16. Dean's time was a new personal best and new school record for Tallassee. Dean's runner-up finish was the best result ever by a Tallassee high runner at the state championship cross country meet.
