Tallassee High School junior Tyrek Turner has been recognized by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. The forward was selected Class 5A Boys Third-Team All-State.
The 6-5 forward was a pivotal part in the Tigers 22-8 season which matched the most wins by a Tallassee team set back in 1970 (22-3).
"It’s a big honor to be listed on the all-state team," THS head coach Keiven Mixson said. "It’s great to know that these coaches and sportswriters see his talent. Tyrek has a determination and work ethic that most others just don’t have. He was back in the gym the weekend after the season grinding in the weight room and working on his game."
Turner averaged 13.2 points per game, 12.2 rebounds per game and 4.6 blocks per game.
