The Alabama Music Educators Association recognized Michael Bird of Tallassee High School for 25 years of continuous service to the AMEA at the final session of the 2023 convention, held at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. The AMEA is the state’s largest arts education organization, with over 1400 member music teachers representing every school system in Alabama.
Mr. Bird is pictured with Dr. Rob Lyda, president of AMEA. Dr. Lyda also named Mr. Bird Chairman of the statewide Public Relations and Advocacy committees. These appointments will run for a two year period from 2023-2025.
