Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you well. We are thrilled to share news regarding our recent attendance achievements in Tallassee City Schools. Our chronic absenteeism decreased dramatically this past school year (THS decreased by 57.5%, SMS decreased by 56.2%, TES decreased by 67.2%)! Why is this so important? “National research indicates students who are chronically absent, in any year between eighth and 12th grade, are more than 7 times more likely to drop out, compared to those with better daily attendance” (Alabama State Department of Education, 2023). Also, research indicates that school attendance is directly correlated to better academic outcomes (grades) for students.

Thanks to the concerted efforts by our dedicated principals, teachers, parents, students, and the Family Engagement Educator Team (F.E.E.T.), we have made great strides in improving attendance and fostering a more connected school community. Your attention and commitment to enhancing these efforts have made a difference, and we couldn't have achieved these results without having our parents’ valuable support.

The improvements we have seen extend beyond just numbers on a page; they reflect a deeper engagement and enthusiasm for learning among our students. As a result, academic gains have increased, and we have also noticed a stronger sense of community and school spirit.

This success is a testament to the power of collaboration between home and school. Your involvement in your child's education is invaluable, and we sincerely appreciate your continued partnership in helping our school thrive.

Once again, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication. Together, we are making a positive impact on the lives of our students and shaping a brighter future for our school. Your role in this cannot be overstated.

Warm regards,

Dr. Brock Nolin,
