I know this is a time of great concern for you. Please make good decisions related to your health and the health of others. Also, please follow city, state, and federal recommendations and continue to practice social distancing. We will make it through this together.

This is what we’re sending out about serving meals. Tallassee City Schools CNP Director, Mrs. Loria Hunter has applied for and has been approved by the Alabama Department of Education to serve meals through our school nutrition program during the times our schools are closed. Meals will be served to all children 18 years old and under from 11:30 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In order to adhere to health guidelines of social distancing, meals will not be consumed on site. Children will pick meals and take them home. The following sites have been approved to begin operating the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) effective Monday, March 30 and continue throughout the time our schools are closed: Career Tech Center 301 Gilmer Ave Tallassee Community Library 99 Freeman Avenue Tallassee Sr Center/Carville Park 445 Main Street

Parents, As always thank you for your continued support of Tallassee City Schools. During the school closure, teachers may provide suggested online assignments. While this is an opportunity for students to practice previously taught skills, completion of assignments is not required and will not count against students. You are encouraged to continue the practice of reading to and or with your child daily.

An update related to the coronavirus: we have postponed, rescheduled, and canceled many activities. However, not all activities. We are following guidance from the ALSDE. We met at the Elmore County EMA today and heard about our county’s preparations. Our administration will meet over the weekend in case other decisions need to be made. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide further updates as needed.
